In 2012, doctors reported the first known case of nonischemic priapism following penile tattooing. A man developed a persistent semi-erection after getting a tattoo on his penis, likely caused by vascular changes from the procedure. Surgeons attempted to correct the condition, but the operation was unsuccessful. Because the erection remained painless and did not affect sexual function, the man ultimately chose to live with it.
