Roman Emperor Aurelian ruled during the turbulent Crisis of the Third Century and managed to reunite the fractured Roman Empire. He defeated the breakaway Palmyrene Empire in the east and the Gallic Empire in the west, restoring imperial unity. Aurelian also repelled Germanic invasions, introduced coinage reforms, promoted the cult of Sol Invictus as a supreme imperial deity, and ordered the construction of the Aurelian Walls around Rome, which protected the city for centuries. Despite these sweeping achievements, his reign lasted only about five years, from 270 to 275 AD.
