Tuvan throat singer Aldyn-ool Sevek was renowned for producing a style of overtone singing that other performers struggled to imitate. A master of the Mongolian and Tuvan throat-singing tradition, he was widely respected for the unusual depth and clarity of his voice. Fellow musicians often described his sound as virtually impossible to reproduce. Sevek died of throat cancer in 2011.
