Boston Tea Party $2.3M Loss

The tea destroyed during the Boston Tea Party on December 16, 1773, had an estimated value equivalent to about $2.3 million in today’s money. That night, members of the Sons of Liberty boarded three British ships in Boston Harbor and dumped 342 chests of tea into the water to protest the Tea Act and British taxation.
