Uma Thurman Grandmother Statue

Uma Thurman Grandmother Statue

Actress Uma Thurman’s grandmother, Birgit Holmquist, served as the model for a famous statue at Smygehuk, the southernmost point of Sweden. Sculptor Axel Ebbe created the statue, called Famntaget, in 1930, depicting a young nude woman embracing the wind and sea. Decades later, Holmquist’s granddaughter Uma Thurman became an international film star. The statue still stands at Smygehuk overlooking the Baltic Sea.
