While filming Only the Lonely (1991), actor John Candy noticed that actress Maureen O’Hara, a major star of 1950s Hollywood, had been assigned a tiny trailer. When Candy complained, studio staff reportedly told him they would rather not spend money on “old stars.” Candy responded by giving O’Hara his own trailer and choosing to go without one. The gesture embarrassed the studio, which quickly arranged proper trailers for both actors.
