Keira Knightley Anorexia Lawsuit Victory

In 2007, actress Keira Knightley won £3,000 in damages after suing the Daily Mail for publishing an article that falsely claimed she had anorexia nervosa. The lawsuit challenged the newspaper’s report linking her to eating disorder claims after the death of a teenager who had the illness. After the court awarded the damages, Knightley added another £3,000 of her own money to the sum. She donated the combined amount to Beat, a charity that supports people suffering from eating disorders and mental health problems.
