Rita Hayworth Bikini Bomb Fury

Rita Hayworth Bikini Bomb Fury

Actress Rita Hayworth reacted with anger when she learned that an atomic bomb scheduled for testing at Bikini Atoll carried her likeness painted on it. The bomb, nicknamed after her famous pinup image, formed part of the United States’ nuclear testing program after World War II. Hayworth believed the use of her image was a publicity stunt arranged by the head of Columbia Pictures. Orson Welles, her husband, later stated that she was the most angry he had ever seen her.
