Harvard Experiments Show Dog Empathy

In experiments at Harvard’s Canine Brains Lab, researchers have observed that some dogs show spontaneous empathy toward humans. In one test, a person pretended to hit their thumb with a hammer and cried out in pain. Some dogs responded by rushing over, licking the person’s face, or trying to intervene. In a few cases, dogs even attempted to take the hammer away, as if trying to stop the source of the injury.
