Carl Panzram Wanted Execution

American serial killer Carl Panzram, responsible for numerous murders and assaults across the United States in the early 1900s, openly sought the death penalty after his arrest. While imprisoned in Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary, Panzram confessed to multiple killings and repeatedly insisted that authorities execute him. When anti–capital punishment activists attempted to intervene and stop the execution, he responded by sending them death threats demanding they stay out of the case. The state carried out the sentence in 1930, when officials hanged him in Kansas.
