In 2008 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canadian filmmaker Mark Twitchell planned a movie about a serial killer and decided to commit real murders to make the story more authentic. Twitchell lured men through online dating sites to a rented garage he called his “kill room,” where he murdered Johnny Altinger and attempted to kill another man who managed to escape. Investigators later searched his computer and discovered a detailed screenplay titled “SK Confessions,” which described crimes nearly identical to the real attack. Prosecutors used the document to convict him of murder.
