Southside Slayer Multiple Killers

During the 1980s and 1990s in South Los Angeles, police formed a special LAPD task force to hunt a supposed serial killer the media called the “Southside Slayer.” Dozens of women, many of them Black sex workers, were found murdered in similar circumstances, which led investigators to believe a single killer was responsible. As the investigation progressed, detectives discovered the murders were actually committed by at least four or five different serial killers operating at the same time in the same area.
