In 2011, the FBI field office in Albuquerque, New Mexico, released hundreds of photographs of personal items collected during the investigation of David Parker Ray, known as the Toy-Box Killer. Ray had operated in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, where investigators believed he kidnapped and tortured numerous women in a trailer he called his βtoy box.β Police and accomplices later accused him of killing as many as 60 victims, though the claims were never proven in court. Despite his reputation as a serial killer, authorities never located any confirmed bodies connected to the case. Ray died in 2002 after his conviction for kidnapping and torture, leaving investigators without definitive evidence of murder victims.
