Colombian serial killer Luis Garavito, known as “La Bestia” (The Beast), carried out a series of murders across Colombia during the 1990s. Garavito targeted vulnerable boys in rural areas and small towns, luring them away before assaulting and killing them. Authorities eventually arrested him in 1999, and investigators linked him to 193 confirmed victims, making him one of the deadliest murderers in modern history. Colombian courts convicted him of numerous murders and sentenced him to decades in prison. He died of eye cancer in October 2023 while still incarcerated.
