John Christie’s Wrongful Execution Case

John Christie’s Wrongful Execution Case

In 1950, British authorities convicted Timothy Evans of murdering his wife Beryl Evans and their infant daughter Geraldine at 10 Rillington Place in London. Evans insisted that his downstairs neighbor, John Christie, was responsible for the killings, but the court rejected his claims. The British government hanged Evans in 1950. Three years later, police discovered multiple bodies hidden inside Christie’s home at the same address. Investigators exposed Christie as a serial killer responsible for at least eight murders, and he later admitted killing Evans’s wife.
