In 1974, Elizabeth Kloepfer, the girlfriend of Ted Bundy, called the Seattle Police Department after realizing her boyfriend matched the description of a suspect in several murders in the Pacific Northwest. Bundy had already been linked to attacks on young women near Seattle, Washington, where witnesses reported a man named Ted driving a Volkswagen Beetle. When Kloepfer phoned police with her concerns, an officer reportedly told her she would need to come to the station and file a formal report because they were too busy to discuss it over the phone. She hung up without completing the report. Bundy continued killing afterward and eventually became one of the most notorious serial killer cases in American history, confessing to 30 murders before his execution in 1989.
