In 2024, researchers at the University of Birmingham Medical School dissected the donated body of a 78-year-old white man and discovered an ultra-rare case of triphallia (three penises), only the second human case ever reported. Although his external genitalia looked normal in life, the dissection revealed two small supernumerary penises stacked behind the primary one, each with its own corpora cavernosa and glans, with a single tortuous urethra shared between the main and one extra shaft, while the smallest lacked a urethra-like structure.
