Superbad Scripted, This Is Improvised

Writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who co-wrote both Superbad (2007) and This Is The End (2013), took very different approaches to dialogue in the two films. About 95% of Superbad’s lines came straight from the script, locking in the jokes on the page. In contrast, the actors in This Is The End improvised roughly 85% of the dialogue on set, riffing on only loosely scripted situations.
