In 2017, a recycling plant worker in Barrie, Ontario, dismantled a 1980s television set and discovered a metal box inside containing $100,000 in cash that 68-year-old Edmonton man Delbert Grimsley had hidden there decades earlier. Grimsley had stashed the money while saving for retirement, then forgotten about it after gifting the TV to a family friend, who eventually sent it to the Ontario recycling depot. Thanks to the plant’s investigation and police involvement, the cash was traced back to Grimsley and returned to him 30 years after he first hid it.
