Rooftop Ninja Hides Inside Sign

In April 2024, contractors working on the roof of a Family Fare grocery store in Midland, Michigan, followed an extension cord into the rooftop sign and discovered a 34-year-old woman secretly living inside. Police, who did not release her name, later nicknamed her the "Rooftop Ninja." She told officers she had lived in the roughly 40-square-foot space for about a year, with a computer, printer, desk, coffee maker, and stored food. After police asked her to leave, the store agreed to help her retrieve her belongings and chose not to press charges.
