During filming of Princess Leia’s rescue of Han Solo at Jabba the Hutt’s palace in Return of the Jedi (1983), Tim Rose worked as the puppeteer for Salacious B. Crumb and Admiral Ackbar. After director Richard Marquand asked the puppeteers to mime their reactions, Rose joked on a hot mic in Crumb’s voice, and Harrison Ford left the set and refused to return until the person who made the comment got fired. The production team solved it by telling Ford they had fired the culprit, then they had Rose pretend to be his own replacement and tell anyone who asked that he was “the new guy.” Rose stayed on the film and later shared credits with Ford again on The Force Awakens.
