Lonely Funeral Poets in Netherlands

Lonely Funeral Poets in Netherlands

In the Netherlands, if a person dies without any next of kin, friends, or family to attend their funeral, a poet will go to the ceremony and read a custom poem. This practice ensures that even those who leave no mourners behind still receive words spoken just for them. Poet and artist Frank Starik started this initiative and called it "The Lonely Funeral" project.
