Samuel L. Jackson Ushers MLK

In 1968, after Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, his funeral was held at Morehouse College in Atlanta, where a small group of current students served as ushers, including Samuel L. Jackson. Then a Morehouse student, Jackson helped manage the crowd at the campus service before traveling to Memphis, Tennessee, to join an equal rights protest march. In a later interview, he said he was angry but not shocked by the assassination and believed that change would take more than sit-ins or peaceful coexistence.
