Elcano Finishes Magellan’s Circumnavigation

Ferdinand Magellan set out with a crew of about 270 sailors to circumnavigate the globe, but he died in the Philippines before he could complete the journey. After his death, a surviving crew of just 18 or 19 men, led by Juan Sebastián Elcano, brought the expedition home and completed the journey he had begun without their original commander.
