Ian McKellen Refuses Dumbledore Role

Sir Ian McKellen was offered the role of Dumbledore after Richard Harris died but turned it down because Harris had once called him "technically brilliant, but passionless." McKellen said he could not take over the part from an actor he knew did not approve of him, so the role went to another performer instead.
