When Sean Connery left the role of James Bond, producers asked Dick Van Dyke to consider taking over. Van Dyke reminded producer Albert Broccoli of his famously bad English accent in Mary Poppins, and Broccoli replied, "Oh, that's right, forget it," shutting down the idea immediately.
