R. Lee Ermey Beats Kubrick

R. Lee Ermey’s performance as the drill instructor in Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket was so sharp that he usually needed only two or three takes to get his scenes right. Kubrick, a notorious perfectionist who was known to push scenes to well over 100 takes, rarely had to ask Ermey for another try.
