Bacteria from chronic gum disease have been found in brains of people suffering from Alzheimer's, and although bad oral hygiene has long been a known risk factor for dementia, researchers now suspect that bacteria from gum disease may somehow cross into the brain and cause or worsen Alzheimer's symptoms.
