On the night of April 11-12, 1981, 14-year-old Sheila Sharp returned to her family's rented cabin 28 in the Keddie resort in northern California and found a scene of extreme violence in the living room. Her mother, Glenna "Sue" Sharp; her younger brother, John; and his friend, Dana Wingate, lay bound, beaten, and stabbed to death, with signs of overkill and multiple weapons used.
In a back bedroom, three young boys, including Sue's sons Rick and Greg and their friend Justin Smartt, slept through the attack and were found physically unharmed the next morning. Despite extensive investigations, possible suspects, and later re-examinations of evidence, the Keddie murders remain officially unsolved, and authorities still do not know who carried out the quadruple homicide or why.
