In Cloverfield (2008), the effects team originally modeled the Statue of Liberty's severed head at its correct real-world scale for the shot where it crashes onto a Manhattan street. When they screened that version, test audiences complained that the head looked too small and felt unrealistic on camera. In response, the filmmakers had to enlarge the digital head beyond its true size.
