Sinclair Pulled Saving Private Ryan

When ABC aired Saving Private Ryan (1998) nationwide on Veterans Day in 2004, several local ABC affiliates owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group refused to show it. Sinclair executives judged the film "obscene" because it contained numerous unedited uses of the F word, even though it was part of a war tribute broadcast. Viewers in those markets saw substitute programming instead.
