Woman In The Moon Countdown

In 1929, Fritz Lang’s German silent film "Woman in the Moon" (Frau im Mond) introduced what is often cited as the first use of a countdown to zero before a rocket launch in movie history. Lang showed scientists and engineers counting down step by step before ignition. Rocket designers later adopted the same ritual in real-life launches because it helped coordinate complex technical procedures. The film proved so influential that the first successfully launched V-2 rocket at Peenemünde carried the Frau im Mond logo painted on its base.
