Different From The Others 1919

In 1919, Germany released what is considered the first pro-gay film in the world, a silent feature titled "Different from the Others." The movie was created as an explicit protest against German laws that criminalized homosexuality, directly challenging legal persecution at the time. When the Nazis came to power, they destroyed most existing prints of the film as part of their broader campaign. Today, only one known copy of "Different from the Others" survives.
