Three Stooges You Nazty Spy

In 1940, The Three Stooges became the first in Hollywood to openly criticize and mock Adolf Hitler on film with their short "You Nazty Spy!" Released by Columbia Pictures, the comedy cast Moe Howard as a buffoonish dictator clearly modeled on Hitler, with Larry Fine and Curly Howard spoofing other Nazi leaders. The film satirized the Third Reich at a time when the United States still remained officially neutral and many studios avoided direct political attacks.
