Louis Le Prince Vanished Cinema Pioneer

Years before Hollywood existed, in the late 1880s, French inventor Louis Le Prince filmed what are considered the first-ever motion pictures. In 1890, he disappeared without a trace while traveling in France, leaving no body and no clear explanation for what happened to him. Soon after, Thomas Edison took credit as the first and sole inventor of cinema and even took Le Prince’s son, Adolphe, to court in a patent dispute over moving picture technology. A few years later, Adolphe Le Prince also died under mysterious circumstances.
