Following Bruce Lee’s death in 1973, producers hired Taiwanese martial artist Ho Chung Tao and billed him as Bruce Li as a possible successor in the wave of “Bruceploitation” films. Using the Bruce Li name, he starred in a string of 1970s martial arts movies such as Super Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (also known as A Dragon Story), Bruce Lee: The Man, The Myth, The Dragon Lives, and later The Chinese Stuntman and Fists of Bruce Lee, some of which became box office hits in Asia and earned cult status with fans. Over time Ho grew tired of being marketed as a Bruce Lee impersonator and increasingly used his real name, then stepped away from the genre, which caused his fame to fade as the Bruceploitation craze itself died out.
