House Of Reuss All Heinrichs

House Of Reuss All Heinrichs

For centuries, the House of Reuss, a German princely family that ruled territories such as Gera, has named every male member Heinrich followed by a Roman numeral. Unlike most royal houses that only number ruling monarchs, the Reuss Junior Line used a single numbering sequence for all male family members and began it afresh with the first son born in each new century. This practice produced some of the highest numerals seen in European nobility and meant that brothers could have nonsequential numbers because their male-line relatives shared the same family-wide counting system.
