Bayume Husen Afro-German Actor

Born in 1904 in German East Africa, Bayume Mohamed Husen was an Afro-German who served as a child soldier in the German army during World War I and later moved to Berlin in 1929. In Berlin he worked as a waiter, Swahili language assistant, and actor, appearing in Africa-themed and Nazi propaganda films and performing with the Deutsche Afrika Schau. In August 1941 the Gestapo arrested him in Berlin for a relationship with a German woman that violated Nazi racial laws and sent him to a concentration camp, where he died in 1944.
