Five Guys Pentagon Delivery Ban

Five Guys Pentagon Delivery Ban

Soon after Five Guys opened its first burger shop in Arlington, Virginia, in 1986, Pentagon officials called in an order for 15 burgers and asked if they could deliver them to the Pentagon. The staff refused because the company had a strict no delivery policy, and founder Jerry Murrell then took a call from a Pentagon admiral who argued that everyone delivers food to the Pentagon. Murrell still would not bend, and he and his son Matt hung a 22-foot banner outside the store that read ABSOLUTELY NO DELIVERY so no one could miss the rule. Business from Pentagon employees actually increased after the banner went up.
