Dragonfish Chlorophyll Pentagon Night Vision

After scientists discovered that deep sea dragonfish had chlorophyll in their eyes that helped them see in the dark, the Pentagon began funding research into cheap night vision eye drops based on the same idea. Researchers found that a chlorophyll derivative called chlorin e6, already used in cancer treatment, could boost the eyeโ€™s sensitivity to low light when combined with a mild electrical current. In tests on volunteers, the drops temporarily improved night vision enough for subjects to distinguish shapes and people at longer distances in the dark.
