Pentagon Paid Patriotism Sports Contracts

Since 2012, the Pentagon has spent 6.8 million dollars paying American pro sports teams for game day ceremonies that honor troops as part of its recruitment campaigns. In one contract, taxpayers paid the Milwaukee Brewers 49,000 dollars so the Wisconsin Army National Guard could sponsor Sunday renditions of "God Bless America," while another paid the New York Jets 20,000 dollars to recognize one or two New Jersey Army National Guard soldiers as "hometown heroes" on the field.
