There are rare shipwrecks that sank facing straight down and now rest sticking vertically out of the seafloor, and HMS Victoria is a famous example. In 1893, during maneuvers off Tripoli, Lebanon, the British battleship collided with HMS Camperdown and took on water rapidly. Victoria then plunged bow first, with her engines still turning, and drove straight into the seabed.
