Mark Mothersbaugh Ridiculousness Theme Royalties

Devo cofounder Mark Mothersbaugh earns about 1 million dollars a year in royalties from MTV’s show Ridiculousness, which uses his band’s song “Uncontrollable Urge” as its theme. Every rerun of the series generates more payments for him. He has said that this theme song income now makes up the biggest portion of his earnings (as of Jan 2025).
