During the Korean War, Master Sergeant Gilbert Zamora served as the youngest American soldier in the conflict, having enlisted in the U.S. Army at just 13 years old. He managed to join because, even at that age, he already stood 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighed about 195 pounds, which made him look like a full-grown adult to recruiters. Zamora then went to Korea as a soldier in uniform.
