During World War II, U.S. Army nurse Ruby Bradley was captured and held prisoner, where she delivered 13 babies in captivity and smuggled food to keep starving children alive, earning the nickname "Angel in Fatigues." She risked punishment by hiding extra rations in her clothing and sharing them with the weakest prisoners. During the Korean War, she again served near the front and faced a hospital evacuation while about 100,000 enemy soldiers surrounded the area. Bradley refused to leave her hospital until every patient and staff member had gone, only departing at the very end after she had helped get everyone else to safety.
