Secret Soviet MiG War Korea

Secret Soviet MiG War Korea

During the Korean War, hundreds of American pilots fought and died in intense aerial battles not only against North Korean and Chinese aircraft but also against Soviet pilots flying for the other side. The Soviet Air Force reportedly flew about 75 percent of all fighter missions in support of North Korea, turning the skies over Korea into a hidden U.S.–Soviet battleground. Both Washington and Moscow kept this direct clash quiet throughout the conflict and for decades afterward. They feared that public acknowledgment of a shooting war between the two powers would fuel demands for open confrontation.
