1967 Hippies Try Levitate Pentagon

In 1967, hippies attempted a ritual to levitate the Pentagon in the air to end the Vietnam War during the October 21 March on the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Activists such as Abbie Hoffman and others framed the event as an exorcism, chanting and performing a ceremony that, they said, would lift the five-sided building into the air, turn it orange, and shake loose the evil they believed fueled the war. The Pentagon never moved.
