Vietnam Gun Trucks Armored Convoys

During the Vietnam War, U.S. Army truck drivers in convoy units facing constant ambushes began building their own “gun trucks” to protect supply runs. They converted standard 2.5 and later 5-ton cargo trucks into heavily armored rigs with sandbags and steel plating, mounting .50 caliber machine guns and even miniguns in the back. Painted black and given names like Brutus, Eve of Destruction, King Kong, Ace of Spades, and The Untouchable, these improvised behemoths served as heavily armed convoy escorts.
