Theagenes Statue Tried for Murder

After the famed ancient Greek athlete Theagenes of Thasos died, a resentful rival took to beating his statue. The statue toppled during one of these attacks and crushed the man to death. City authorities tried the statue for murder, found it guilty, and punished it by casting it into the sea.
