In October 2022, the Olympic Council of Asia awarded the 2029 Asian Winter Games to Neom, a planned city in Saudi Arabia's Tabuk Province. Neom does not yet exist as a finished city (as of October 2025), but Saudi Arabia pledged to build winter sports venues there, including facilities in its proposed Trojena mountain resort. The choice made Saudi Arabia the first Arab country to host the Asian Winter Games. The 2029 event is scheduled to take place once the futuristic city is constructed.
